Revolutions: Chinese Revolution

What is the Chinese Revolution

The Chinese Revolution refers to a series of significant political upheavals between 1911 and 1949 that transformed China from an imperial monarchy to a communist state. The 1911 Revolution overthrew the Qing Dynasty, ending over two millennia of imperial rule and establishing the Republic of China. This period was marked by internal strife and power struggles, culminating in the Chinese Civil War between the Nationalists (Kuomintang) and the Communists. The conflict ended in 1949 with victory of the Communist Party, led Mao Zedong, and the establishment of the People's Replublic of China.
