What is Dystopian?

Dystopian fiction is a form of speculative fiction in which society has developed contrary to the ideal cultural ethos, often featuring mass poverty, pollution, and tyranny. Dystopian is considered a sub genre of science fiction.

Examples of popular dystopian fiction novels are The Hunger Games, Maze Runner, and 1984.

Dystopian news

Fans of Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games series can expect another addition in March 2025. Sunrise on the Reaping will be the second prequel novel in the series, this time following Haymitch Abernathy during the the 50th Hunger Games, set 24 years before the events of the first book.

Love the Hunger Games but not keen to spend time reading this latest addtion? Fear not! Linosgate has already announced a film adaption of the yet to be released novel, expected to come out November 2026. No casting announcements have yet been made, but I think everyone can agree Woody Harrelson is the only choice.
