Historical fiction is a genre in which the setting is a real historical period, such as ancient Rome, victorian England, or revoltuionary France. While historical fiction would usally only contain books written during past historical periods, the Tintern Grammar historical fiction collection also includes books written contemporaneously, such as Charles Dicken's Great Expectations, which was written during the historical period it is set in.
Popular examples of histrocial fiction include Great Expectations, My Brother Jack, and Pride and Prejudice.
